Substantive Drafting + Research
Our team supports attorneys and law firms with litigation-ready written advocacy and targeted legal research. This tier covers work that requires legal analysis, strategy, and argument development, not just formatting or document organization.
Typical work under Substantive Drafting + Research includes:
Written advocacy: drafting and revising pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and other substantive filings
Argument development: issue-spotting, framing claims/defenses, organizing the legal theory, and strengthening analysis and structure
Legal research: locating and synthesizing authority; drafting research memos; updating/validating research as needed
Substantive revisions: rewrites that change reasoning, argument, or overall strategy (not just proofreading)
Supporting materials: drafting outlines and talking points for hearings based on the legal issues and record provided by counsel
Hourly billing + estimates: Work is billed hourly. For each assignment, we provide an initial estimate based on the scope, deadline, and materials provided. The final invoice reflects actual time and complexity. If scope changes or new issues arise that are likely to move the estimate, we flag it promptly so counsel can decide how to proceed.
Quantity: Hours (1 unit = 1 hour). Select the estimated number of hours for this assignment. Work is billed hourly, and the final invoice is based on actual time and complexity. If scope changes or new issues arise that are likely to move the estimate, we flag it promptly so you can decide how to proceed.
Turnaround: Standard turnaround is set at intake. Rush (≤ 3 business days) and Super Rush (next business day / ≤ 24 hours) are available subject to availability.
Services are provided to attorneys and law firms only, performed at counsel’s direction, and subject to availability and applicable law.
